Red turtle dove

Characteristics

The red turtle dove is the smallest among the Columbidae species. The male’s head is gray, and it has a black collar around the neck. The male’s primary flight feathers are brick red and the female’s are gray-brown. As a result, the red turtle dove is also referred to as the “red spotted dove”.
Habits: The red turtle dove mostly eats fruit, seeds, and insects and often appears in lowland plains and greens.
Resident/Common; Body length: 23 cm
Birdwatching period: year round
